My Worst First Date Stories
I've been dating for 15 years now (geez that sounds exhausting) and so I've been on quite a few first dates! Most of them have been good, even with the awkward silences and side hugs. I've had those dates where the guy just spent the whole time talking about himself, or where we sit at the bar and order appetizers when I thought we were going to a nice dinner. There are two dates in particular that stand out in my mind as my worst first dates ever, and I wanted to tell you guys the stories! Here they are:
1. I went on a date with this guy when I was like 17 or 18. He came and picked me up and we went to see a movie. (Okay, so after going on a bajillion dates I now know a movie for a first date is the worst possible idea ever, but whatever.. moving on..) So, the entire movie he is either holding my hand or has his hand on my leg. Keep in mind, this is our FIRST DATE.. why are you trying to hold my hand, mister?! So, after the movie he is taking me home and we don't make it very far before he GETS IN A WRECK! His car is in such bad shape that he can't drive me the rest of the way home, so he calls his dad, and him and his dad take me home. Ugh. So awkward.
2. Okay I'd have to say that this is my worst date ever. I believe I was 19 or 20, and I met this guy through some friends. He comes in his daddy's fancy sports car to pick me up at my parent's house for a lunch date, so probably around 11AM.
We go and have lunch and all is well, but then he asks if I can run an errand with him. He needs to stop by the store to pick up some of his modeling pictures he had developed. Like.. WHAT?! So we pick up his modeling pictures and he even gives me one - I wonder if I still have that somewhere..?
After picking up the pictures, we ran other errands which honestly I don't really remember. All I know is we ended up at his parent's house, which is like an hour away from my parent's house, watching a movie. By the time I finally made it home from that "lunch date", it was like 11 o'clock at night, I'm not even kidding. And it wasn't like I was off having a wonderful time with this super great guy.. no - I just didn't know how to say "I've gotta go home!"
Dating can be fun sometimes, but it can also be tiresome and it gets old really fast! That's why my standards have gone wayyy up since my early 20's and some of the things I put up with - like, holding my hand on the first date, or taking me on a 12 hour lunch date - I would never put up with now! I choose who I'm going to spend my time with very carefully and I don't go on a date with just anyone anymore!
I'd love to hear about a bad date you've had! What's the worst first date you've ever been on?!
